The following is a question submitted by a patron and answered by the Library:

Q — Why is potassium important to our bodies and what does it do?

A — The library went to the National Institute of Health to find that potassium is a mineral that your body needs to work properly. It is a type of electrolyte. It helps your nerves to function and muscles contract. It helps your heartbeat; stay regular. It also helps move nutrients into cells and waste products out of cells. A diet rich in potassium helps to offset some of sodium’s harmful effects on blood pressure.

The Mac Gal can help you with any Apple product question at the library on Tuesday, March 28, beginning at 9:15 a.m. If you can’t make it, stop by the circulation desk to set up an appointment. No registration is required.
