Shakespeare auditions open
CENTREVILLE — Shore Shakespeare Company is holding open auditions for its spring tour production of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
Auditions are at 7:30 p.m. March 27 and 28 and callbacks will be at 7:30 p.m. March 30, all at the Queen Anne’s County Centre for the Arts, Centreville.
Performance dates are June 2 through June 25. All performances will be held outside.
Rehearsals commence Thursday, April 6, at the arts center.
The script, adapted by Rogers and dramaturge John Wieczoreck, calls for 14 actors, including at least eight men and four women.
Other roles may be cross-cast. Younger actors are particularly sought after.
Roles of varying size and for varying abilities are available. No roles have been pre-cast. All roles may entail robust physical activity.
Auditioners are requested to register by sending an email with contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org or by visiting the contact page. If you have a headshot, please provide one; otherwise, one will be taken during check-in.
Auditioners are asked to prepare a memorized, oneto two-minute monologue from a different Shakespeare comedy and to read from sides, which have been be posted at www.shoreshakespeare.com. Sides will also be emailed to registered auditioners. The 2017 tour opens with three performances at Adkins Arboretum in Ridgely, commencing on Friday, June 2.
The tour will continue the weekends following, with performances Oxford, Easton, Cambridge and Stevensville.
The tour closes in Chestertown with final performances on Friday, June 23 and Sunday, June 25.}
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is produced by Shelagh Grasso. Choreography is by Greg Minahan, and Magic Direction by Ian Flinn. Costumes are designed by Barbi Bedell and Julie Yankovich, and Properties by Juanita Wieczoreck. Set is by Chris Rogers and Carmen Grasso.
