New dates set to meet candidates for superintendent
CENTREVILLE — The Superintendent Search Focus Groups originally scheduled for March 14 and 15 have been rescheduled to March 28 and March 29 due to inclement weather on the originally scheduled dates. The March 28 and 29 focus group sessions will be conducted at the Board of Education, 202 Chesterfield Avenue in Centreville. The Queen Anne’s County Board of Education announced the names of three finalists for the next Queen Anne’s County Superintendent of Schools: current Interim Superintendent Gregory Pilewski, Dr. Theo Kramer and Dr. Andrea Kane. The candidates will participate in a “Day in the District” with Queen Anne’s County Public Schools and will include an informal coffee time with local officials; interview with panels of Central Office administrators, principals, support staff and retirees, business leaders, teachers, parents and community leaders; a tour of three Queen Anne’s County schools; lunch with students; and dinner and dialogue with the Board of Education.
Members of various focus groups have attended an orientation and preparation meeting and will continue to participate in the process of interviewing the finalists.
The board’s goal is to choose the top candidate for superintendent by the first of April and vote to appoint the chosen candidate and announce it in a meeting after April 15. The new superintendent would start work on July 1, 2017.
