New dates set to meet can­di­dates for su­per­in­ten­dent

CENTREVILLE — The Su­per­in­ten­dent Search Fo­cus Groups orig­i­nally sched­uled for March 14 and 15 have been resched­uled to March 28 and March 29 due to in­clement weather on the orig­i­nally sched­uled dates. The March 28 and 29 fo­cus group ses­sions will be con­ducted at the Board of Ed­u­ca­tion, 202 Chesterfield Av­enue in Centreville. The Queen Anne’s County Board of Ed­u­ca­tion an­nounced the names of three fi­nal­ists for the next Queen Anne’s County Su­per­in­ten­dent of Schools: cur­rent In­terim Su­per­in­ten­dent Gre­gory Pilewski, Dr. Theo Kramer and Dr. An­drea Kane. The can­di­dates will par­tic­i­pate in a “Day in the Dis­trict” with Queen Anne’s County Pub­lic Schools and will in­clude an in­for­mal cof­fee time with lo­cal of­fi­cials; in­ter­view with pan­els of Cen­tral Of­fice ad­min­is­tra­tors, prin­ci­pals, sup­port staff and re­tirees, busi­ness lead­ers, teach­ers, par­ents and community lead­ers; a tour of three Queen Anne’s County schools; lunch with stu­dents; and din­ner and dia­logue with the Board of Ed­u­ca­tion.

Mem­bers of var­i­ous fo­cus groups have at­tended an ori­en­ta­tion and prepa­ra­tion meet­ing and will con­tinue to par­tic­i­pate in the process of in­ter­view­ing the fi­nal­ists.

The board’s goal is to choose the top can­di­date for su­per­in­ten­dent by the first of April and vote to ap­point the cho­sen can­di­date and an­nounce it in a meet­ing af­ter April 15. The new su­per­in­ten­dent would start work on July 1, 2017.
