SEAFORD, DEL. — James J. Moore, 38, passed away on Tues­day, March 14, 2017 at Cor­sica Hills Cen­ter in Centreville, MD.

The Cel­e­bra­tion of Life ser­vice will be held on Fri­day, March 24, at Wes­ley United Methodist Church, 22025 At­lanta Road, Seaford, DE 19973 at 12 o’clock (Noon). Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon.

Pro­fes­sional ser­vices en­trusted to Ben­nie Smith Fu­neral Home, Seaford. the late Charles Hi­ram and Melthy El­iz­a­beth (Trice) Mor­gan. Mr. Mor­gan, his three broth­ers and three sis­ters grew up in Clay­mont, DE.

Mr. Mor­gan served in the Navy on the USS Guam, where he was an Ar­morer. He mar­ried Betty Lee Wal­dron on Jan. 10, 1947. When he left the Navy, Mr. Mor­gan worked for Del­marva Power and Light for over 30 years, re­tir­ing in 1983 as a Con­struc­tion Man­ager.

Mr. Mor­gan was a long time mem­ber of Holly Oak Methodist Church. He was very ac­tive in the community, in­clud­ing be­ing a leader for the In­dian Guides, coach­ing bowl­ing for kids, act­ing Pres­i­dent of the CYAA, and work­ing to se­cure lights for the Base­ball Lit­tle League and CYAA foot­ball fields. In later years, Mr. Mor­gan was a proud mem­ber of the Clay­mont ROMEO Club.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Mr. Mor­gan was pre­ceded in death by his son, Brian Lee Mor­gan, and his wife, Betty Lee (Wal­dron) Mor­gan. He was also pre­de­ceased by his broth­ers, Charles, Ed­ward and Jimmy, as well as his sis­ters, Eve­lyn and Fan­nie. Mr. Mor­gan is sur­vived by his sis­ter, Ann Emer­son, as well as many nieces, neph­ews and ex­tended fam­ily mem­bers.

The fam­ily would like to say a spe­cial thank you to Mr. Mor­gan’s care­giver, No­rys, for her tire­less ded­i­ca­tion to his care. In ad­di­tion, the fam­ily would like to thank Chris­tiana Care’s Res­pi­ra­tory Depart­ment and the Wilmington ICU nurs­ing staff for the care given to Mr. Mor­gan dur­ing his ill­ness.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held on Fri­day, March 24, 11 a.m. at the Geb­hart Fu­neral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Clay­mont, DE, where friends may visit with the fam­ily, be­gin­ning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Cas­tle, DE.
