Chester man found dead in Stevensville gas station
STEVENSVILLE — An investigation by the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office has determined the death of an elderly male at a Stevensville gas station was of natural causes.
At 10:07 p.m. March 15, deputies were dispatched to the Friendly Food and Gas Station at 1383 Main St. for an unresponsive male in the store’s bathroom.
As part of the investigation, deputies reviewed the store’s camera footage and determined Gary Xavier Paul, 74, of Chester, died from natural causes and an existing medical condition, the sheriff’s office said.
The gas station’s clerk noticed an individual had been in the restroom for an extended period of time, the report stated, and after getting no response after knocking on the door called 911. Paul had entered the restroom 10 hours earlier, police said.
Deputies attempting to contact Paul received no response and forced the door open to find Paul dead, police said.
The body was removed and taken to a local funeral home, police said.
