Mu­seum opens for sea­son

CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s Mu­seum of Eastern Shore Life at the Queen Anne’s County 4-H Park near Centreville will re­open on Satur­day, April 1, to be­gin the vis­i­tor sea­son for 2017.

The mu­seum board mem­bers are in the process of re-ar­rang­ing the dis­plays and ar­ti­facts so as to up­date and up­grade the floor plan. Sev­eral older and less rel­e­vant dis­plays will be re­moved and sev­eral new dis­plays will be in­stalled to gen­er­ate new in­ter­est and ap­peal.

The mu­seum is still seek­ing to ex­pand its col­lec­tion of archival pho­tos and re­quests that peo­ple around Queen Anne’s County who have old pho­tos of peo­ple or ac­tiv­i­ties in the county from the 1800s through the 1960s con­tact the mu­seum and al­low the mu­seum to make a copy of the pho­tos for dis­play in the mu­seum. The orig­i­nal pho­tos would be promptly re­turned to the own­ers.

One new dis­play that the board mem­bers would like to add is a dis­play of pho­tos and rel­e­vant ar­ti­facts from peo­ple from Queen Anne’s County who served in the U. S. mil­i­tary dur­ing World War II and re­quest that fam­ily mem­bers of such per­son­nel con­tact the mu­seum.
