Museum opens for season
CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s Museum of Eastern Shore Life at the Queen Anne’s County 4-H Park near Centreville will reopen on Saturday, April 1, to begin the visitor season for 2017.
The museum board members are in the process of re-arranging the displays and artifacts so as to update and upgrade the floor plan. Several older and less relevant displays will be removed and several new displays will be installed to generate new interest and appeal.
The museum is still seeking to expand its collection of archival photos and requests that people around Queen Anne’s County who have old photos of people or activities in the county from the 1800s through the 1960s contact the museum and allow the museum to make a copy of the photos for display in the museum. The original photos would be promptly returned to the owners.
One new display that the board members would like to add is a display of photos and relevant artifacts from people from Queen Anne’s County who served in the U. S. military during World War II and request that family members of such personnel contact the museum.
Additional board members are needed for the museum. If anyone feels qualified and is interested, please contact the museum.
The museum’s mailing address is P.O. Box 525, Centreville.
Museum visiting hours are from 1 to 4 pm on the first Saturday of each month from April to October.
