GRASONVILLE — Freida Cle­venger Thomas of Grasonville, MD, died Mon­day, April 3, 2017 at the Pines in Eas­ton, MD. She was 90.

Born on Jan. 30, 1927 in Grasonville, she was the daugh­ter of the late Ed­ward Franklin Cle­venger and Sadie Le­ola Sad­dler Cle­venger. She was a grad­u­ate of Stevensville High School class of 1947.

As a young girl, she worked for the Mat­a­peake Ferry Sys­tem. On Jan. 17, 1948, she mar­ried John R. Thomas and they would re­side in Grasonville, MD, and Freida worked as a wait­ress for Fish­er­man’s Inn un­til 1951. In that year she worked with the Queen Anne’s County Board of Ed­u­ca­tion as an in­struc­tional aide and bus driver for 26 years. Dur­ing her re­tire­ment she con­tin­ued to sub­sti­tute with chil­dren with spe­cial needs and for many years vol­un­teered with Hos­pice at Es­tate Trea­sures. She en­joyed her an­nual trips to Florida each win­ter with fam­ily and friends.
