CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what appear to be crimes of opportunity in Claiborne Fields.

About 3:30 p.m. Feb. 11, Robert Morgan of the 200 block of Claiborne Fields Drive reported someone had entered the garage of his vacant house and took several wrenches and sockets from a tool box. The tools were valued at $100.

While canvassing the neighborhood, Dfc.Brad Martz discovered another victim, Jude Mandes, on the 300 block. Mandes said he had left his wallet in his unlocked truck overnight. Later, when he went to purchase pizza, he discoverd the wallet was gone. The wallet contained about $70 in cash and several bank cards.

The sheriff’s office reminds citizens to lock their residences and vehicles and not to leave valuables in plain sight.
