Library announces spring break events
CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Free Library will offer events for children on each day the library is open from April 15-18, coinciding with spring break for county schools.
On April 15, families visiting the Kent Island Branch at 2:30 p.m. can make spring pictures using watercolors and cotton swabs to experiment with pointillism, a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image.
Students in grades 3-6 can make circuit bugs at the Centreville Branch on April 17 at 2:30 p.m. Each participant will create a bug with lightup LED eyes while learning about circuits.
Join the monthly Teen Hangout for ages 11-17 to enjoy crafts and pizza at the Kent Island Branch on April 17 at 4:45 p.m. Previous activities include coloring, movies, crafts, board games, pumpkin painting and button making.
On April 18, the Centreville Branch welcomes babies through 36 months for Mother Goose on the Loose, while Kent Island hosts Bouncing Babies for babies through 24 months, both at 10:30 a.m. These storytimes feature rhymes, songs, bounces, and books and are followed by a social playtime.
Also on April 18, children ages 5-10 can read to a dog from Delmarva Pets on Wheels at the Kent Island Branch to build reading skills and gain confidence. Please call 410-643-8161 to reserve a 10-minute time slot between 4 and 5 p.m. All ages are invited to play with LEGO® bricks at the Centreville Branch at 2:30 p.m. on April 18.
Adults seeking events in the same time frame can register for a Healthy and Fast Recipe Exchange at the Kent Island Branch at 6 p.m. on April 18. Resume help sessions are also available by appointment at the Centreville Branch on Saturday, April 15.
