Li­brary an­nounces spring break events

CEN­TRE­VILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Free Li­brary will of­fer events for chil­dren on each day the li­brary is open from April 15-18, co­in­cid­ing with spring break for county schools.

On April 15, fam­i­lies vis­it­ing the Kent Is­land Branch at 2:30 p.m. can make spring pic­tures us­ing wa­ter­col­ors and cot­ton swabs to ex­per­i­ment with pointil­lism, a tech­nique of paint­ing in which small, dis­tinct dots of color are ap­plied in pat­terns to form an im­age.

Stu­dents in grades 3-6 can make cir­cuit bugs at the Cen­tre­ville Branch on April 17 at 2:30 p.m. Each par­tic­i­pant will cre­ate a bug with lightup LED eyes while learn­ing about cir­cuits.

Join the monthly Teen Han­gout for ages 11-17 to en­joy crafts and pizza at the Kent Is­land Branch on April 17 at 4:45 p.m. Pre­vi­ous ac­tiv­i­ties in­clude col­or­ing, movies, crafts, board games, pump­kin paint­ing and but­ton mak­ing.

On April 18, the Cen­tre­ville Branch wel­comes ba­bies through 36 months for Mother Goose on the Loose, while Kent Is­land hosts Bounc­ing Ba­bies for ba­bies through 24 months, both at 10:30 a.m. These sto­ry­times fea­ture rhymes, songs, bounces, and books and are fol­lowed by a so­cial play­time.

Also on April 18, chil­dren ages 5-10 can read to a dog from Del­marva Pets on Wheels at the Kent Is­land Branch to build read­ing skills and gain con­fi­dence. Please call 410-643-8161 to re­serve a 10-minute time slot be­tween 4 and 5 p.m. All ages are in­vited to play with LEGO® bricks at the Cen­tre­ville Branch at 2:30 p.m. on April 18.

Adults seek­ing events in the same time frame can reg­is­ter for a Healthy and Fast Recipe Ex­change at the Kent Is­land Branch at 6 p.m. on April 18. Re­sume help ses­sions are also avail­able by ap­point­ment at the Cen­tre­ville Branch on Satur­day, April 15.

All li­brary pro­grams are free of charge. Com­plete cal­en­dars of events for all ages and regis­tra­tion links are avail­able at www.qa­cli­brary. org.

The li­brary will be closed on Fri­day, April 14, and Sun­day, April 16.

The Kent Is­land Branch Li­brary is lo­cated at 200 Li­brary Cir­cle in Stevensville. The Cen­tre­ville Branch is lo­cated at 121 S. Com­merce Street in Cen­tre­ville.
