FRED­ER­ICK — Jo Ann (Curlett) Casey, 85, of Fred­er­ick passed away on Satur­day, April 1, 2017 at the Bal­lenger Creek Cen­ter, Fred­er­ick.

She was born Dec. 26, 1931 in Elk­ton, to the late John Wil­liam Curlett and Ade­laide Thelma (Kel­ley) Curlett. Mrs. Casey was em­ployed dur­ing her mar­ried life at two dif­fer­ent photo labs, one be­ing in Wilm­ing­ton, Del. and the other in Beltsville. She also was em­ployed for 13 years at Adel­phi Day Care Cen­ter but her great­est joy was rais­ing her chil­dren.

She en­joyed do­ing word search puz­zles, read­ing, the mu­sic of Yanni and An­drea Bo­celli, her many va­ca­tions in Ocean City, eat­ing out and most im­por­tantly her fam­ily, es­pe­cially her grand­chil­dren.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents, Mrs. Casey is pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Sa­muel Ed­ward Casey; her son-in-law, Ray James Lun­nen III; a sis­ter, Mary El­iz­a­beth (Betty) Dixon; a brother, David Wil­liam Curlett; a sis­ter-in-law, Mary Ann Casey; and two broth­ers-in-law, Charles Casey.

She leaves be­hind to cher­ish her mem­ory her daugh­ter, Darla Faith Lun­nen of Fred­er­ick; her son, Daren Brent Casey and fi­ancée Ma­galy Cor­rea of Plainville, Conn.; her grand­chil­dren: Shane James Lun­nen and his wife JoAnna of Ir­win, Pa., Shane Justin Casey Stone of An­dover, Conn. and Paige Meara Casey of Plainville. Mrs. Casey also is sur­vived by her sis­ter, Lynn Dixon and her hus­band Nor­man Dixon Sr. of Golds­boro; her sis­ter-in-law, Mil­dred Casey of Dud­ley Cor­ners; and a cousin, Ida (Pas­sion) Janone of Ris­ing Sun.

Mrs. Casey will be re­mem­bered by her spe­cial friends at Bal­lenger Cen­ter: Joy, Brenda and Dayne Barn­hardt, Verna Fletcher, her room­mate Vickie High­ling and Ron Lowe. She also will be re­mem­bered by her many nieces, neph­ews, cousins and friends.

The fam­ily would like to ex­tend sin­cere grat­i­tude to all the staff at Bal­lenger Cen­ter who loved her and took such good care of her in the al­most three years she spent with them.
