Jo Ann C. Casey
FREDERICK — Jo Ann (Curlett) Casey, 85, of Frederick passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Ballenger Creek Center, Frederick.
She was born Dec. 26, 1931 in Elkton, to the late John William Curlett and Adelaide Thelma (Kelley) Curlett. Mrs. Casey was employed during her married life at two different photo labs, one being in Wilmington, Del. and the other in Beltsville. She also was employed for 13 years at Adelphi Day Care Center but her greatest joy was raising her children.
She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, reading, the music of Yanni and Andrea Bocelli, her many vacations in Ocean City, eating out and most importantly her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Casey is predeceased by her husband, Samuel Edward Casey; her son-in-law, Ray James Lunnen III; a sister, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Dixon; a brother, David William Curlett; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Casey; and two brothers-in-law, Charles Casey.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Darla Faith Lunnen of Frederick; her son, Daren Brent Casey and fiancée Magaly Correa of Plainville, Conn.; her grandchildren: Shane James Lunnen and his wife JoAnna of Irwin, Pa., Shane Justin Casey Stone of Andover, Conn. and Paige Meara Casey of Plainville. Mrs. Casey also is survived by her sister, Lynn Dixon and her husband Norman Dixon Sr. of Goldsboro; her sister-in-law, Mildred Casey of Dudley Corners; and a cousin, Ida (Passion) Janone of Rising Sun.
Mrs. Casey will be remembered by her special friends at Ballenger Center: Joy, Brenda and Dayne Barnhardt, Verna Fletcher, her roommate Vickie Highling and Ron Lowe. She also will be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all the staff at Ballenger Center who loved her and took such good care of her in the almost three years she spent with them.
