Molotov cocktail does damage to vacant home
PONDTOWN — A Molotov cocktail thrown through a bedroom window of a vacant home at 2205 Pondtown Road caused minor fire damages, and investigators with the Maryland Fire Marshal’s Office are seeking information from the community.
The 2:37 p.m. fire at the one-story, single-family dwelling fire caused $1,000 in structural damage and is being investigated as an arson attempt, according to the state fire marshal’s office. No one was injured.
The fire was discovered on the foreclosed property, owned by the bank, by contractors doing appraisal work, Deputy Chief Matt Stevens said. He said the contractors noticed a window had been broken and upon entering the property saw the remains of the incendiar y device.
The fire, located in the rear bedroom, burnt itself out, so no fire departments responded.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call investigators at the Upper Eastern Office of the State Fire Marshal in Easton at 410-822-7609.
