SUDLERSVILLE — John Al­fred Kle­can of Sudlersville passed away on Sat­ur­day, April 8, 2017, at Kent Gen­eral Hospi­tal in Dover, Del. He was 76.

Mr. Kle­can was born in Golds­boro on Oct. 31, 1940, the son of the late Emma “Thorpe” and Wil­liam Kle­can. As a young boy, he worked for neigh­bor­ing farms and Jar­rels Can­nery and in 1958 he grad­u­ated from Greens­boro High School. Mr. Kle­can en­tered into the United States Army and served his coun­try for two years. Af­ter his dis­charge he came home and went to work for Johnson Con­trols, where he even­tu­ally re­tired in 2000 af­ter 38 years. In his younger years he en­joyed hunt­ing, fishing and crab­bing, and later in life he en­joyed watch­ing base­ball, foot­ball, work­ing in his garage and plant­ing in his gar­den with his John Deere trac­tor. John Kle­can, known to some as Al­fred and bet­ter known as Pop Pop, will be dearly missed.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, he was pre­ceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Kle­can; two sis­ters, Elsie Green­ley and Dorothy Sard; and two broth­ers, Ge­orge Ed­ward Kle­can and Charles Wil­liam Kle­can.

He is sur­vived by six sis­ters,
