Aug. 7 will be the opening of the 75th Queen Anne’s County Fair held at the 4-H Park. Thanks to the generosity of George Moffett who left 26 acres to the 4-H youth of Queen Anne’s County, we have a wonderful park that provides the setting for the single largest activity held in our county.
In 1942, Zoot suits were a fashion statement for many men, Kellogg’s Raisin Bran and instant coffee were introduced, and a movie ticket was 30 cents. Seventy-five years later the Fair Committee is busy preparing for a wonderful Fair and celebration. Look for the Fair Book in the paper around Mother’s Day. Why not enter something in 2017? Check out the classes and work toward having an entry.
We are also pleased to announce there will be a Pit Ham dinner on Saturday, thanks to the Queen Anne’s County Farm Bureau. We will also close the Fair with a concert from Sam Grow. Mark Aug. 7 to the 12 on your calendar. It is a time to renew old friendships and make news friends.
