River­keep­ers seek vol­un­teers to plant trees

EAS­TON — Midshore River­keeper Con­ser­vancy is seek­ing vol­un­teers to as­sist with a tree plant­ing at 9 a.m. April 29 at Im­manuel Lutheran Church, 7215 Ocean Gate­way in Eas­ton. The project will in­crease tree canopy and re­for­est ri­par­ian ar­eas on the prop­erty.

This plant­ing is part of the Trees for Sa­cred Places Project, de­vel­oped and led by the Al­liance for the Ch­e­sa­peake Bay in part­ner­ship with the In­ter­faith Part­ners for the Ch­e­sa­peake. The pro­gram has planted over 12,000 trees on more than 100 faith-owned prop­er­ties, in­clud­ing con­gre­ga­tional grounds, re­treat cen­ters, sum­mer camps, and re­tire­ment com­mu­ni­ties that are con­tribut­ing to wa­ter­shed restora­tion, com­mu­nity beauty, and care of God’s Cre­ation. The Trees for Sa­cred Places pro­gram is a funded by the Mary­land De­part­ment of Nat­u­ral Re­sources and Ch­e­sa­peake Bay Trust.
