RUTHSBURG — Heat pumps at the Ruthsburg Community Center on Damsontown Road were reported damaged with pieces missing on April 19 at 11:50 a.m. According to a report taken by Dfc. Eric Goodman of the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, the caretaker for the Ruthsburg Community Center was cutting grass when he noticed that the heat pumps for the building had been disassembled.

Both units had all the copper tubing cut and removed. Supply lines from the gas tanks that supply gas to the stoves in the kitchen had also been removed. The theft is believed to have occurred late evening on April 18 or early morning April 19. No estimate was available immediately on the damage, but it appears both units need to be replaced.

Someone vandalized the heat pumps at Ruthsburg Community Center in April and stole the copper tubing from them.
