Gallery at Woods hosts Mother/ Daughter Show
SEVERNA PARK — The Gallery at Woods will commemorate Mother’s Day with a Mother/Daughter Show. Painter Thelma Green and her daughter, Dale Hall, a photographer, both former Severna Park residents, will show their work depicting Maryland’s Eastern Shore, which they both call home now.
Thelma Green raised her family in Linstead on the Severn during the ‘60s and ‘70s and along with her family attended Woods Memorial Church.Green and Hall have shown their work in group shows held in The Gallery at Woods and Hall participated in one of Woods’ very first art shows during the ‘70s. Waterscapes and waterfowl are inspiration for both mother and daughter. You will also see man’s best friend in much of Hall’s work as well.
The show will run through June 5. Gallery at Woods is located at 611 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park.
Both are award winning artists and have participated in many art shows together on the Eastern Shore, where they are members of the Kent Island Federation of Arts and ART East. They have both had their work chosen for permanent collections in Queen Anne’s Emergency Center and The Hilton Garden Inn. You will also see their work in Kent Island gift shops and galleries.
Both mother and daughter started their artistic aspirations in their early teens and are still “at it” today. Green’s first commission was painting horse heads on neck ties for Baltimore City policemen who did much of their work on horses at the time. She later became prolific with water colors, oils, and acrylics. Hall started by doing darkroom work in a closet in her house. She now uses Photoshop to create and enhance her “captures” calling her business Dale Hall Photo Artistry. Her website name depicts much of her subject matter, http://chesapeakepics.com.
