Betty Rollison Clark
CENTREVILLE — Betty Rollison Clark of Centreville, MD, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in Compass Regional Hospice Center in Centreville. She was 93.
Betty was born on August 1, 1923, in Piney Neck, MD, daughter of the late John E.A. Rollison and Mary Middleton Rollison. She attended Rock Hall Public Schools. She was a past member of the Rock Hall Methodist Church, where she played the organ and taught Sunday School. On Dec. 27, 1952, Betty married Van G. Clark Jr. and they made their home in Centreville.
Betty started working at the age of 13, shucking oysters and picking crabs. In later years, she worked at various shops in downtown Centreville including Fox’s 5 & 10, Centreville Furniture Store, Pippins Apparel, Tolson’s His and Her Shop and Karlie’s Fabrics. She loved crafts, watching the Orioles, and traveling.
Betty is a member of Centreville United Methodist Church and the Centreville United Methodist Women’s Club.
Betty is survived by her son, Van “Chopper” Clark III; daughter, Lisa Walls and her husband Dennis and granddaughter, Taylor Walls, all of Centreville. Betty was fondly known as Mom Mom Clark and Mama by many.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 53 years, she was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Beck; niece, Brenda Baker; nephews, John, David, Howard and Robert Beck, all of Rock Hall; and a special cousin, Virginia Vansant Collins of Wilmington.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 15, at 11 a.m. in the Centreville United Methodist Church, 608 Church Hill Road, Centreville, MD, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville.
Memorial donations may be made to Compass Regional Hospice Center or Centreville United Methodist Women’s Scholarship Fund.
