Betty Rol­li­son Clark

CENTREVILLE — Betty Rol­li­son Clark of Centreville, MD, passed away on Wed­nes­day, May 10, 2017, in Com­pass Re­gional Hospice Cen­ter in Centreville. She was 93.

Betty was born on Au­gust 1, 1923, in Piney Neck, MD, daugh­ter of the late John E.A. Rol­li­son and Mary Mid­dle­ton Rol­li­son. She at­tended Rock Hall Pub­lic Schools. She was a past mem­ber of the Rock Hall Methodist Church, where she played the or­gan and taught Sun­day School. On Dec. 27, 1952, Betty mar­ried Van G. Clark Jr. and they made their home in Centreville.

Betty started work­ing at the age of 13, shuck­ing oys­ters and pick­ing crabs. In later years, she worked at var­i­ous shops in down­town Centreville in­clud­ing Fox’s 5 & 10, Centreville Fur­ni­ture Store, Pip­pins Ap­parel, Tol­son’s His and Her Shop and Kar­lie’s Fabrics. She loved crafts, watch­ing the Ori­oles, and trav­el­ing.

Betty is a mem­ber of Centreville United Methodist Church and the Centreville United Methodist Women’s Club.

Betty is sur­vived by her son, Van “Chop­per” Clark III; daugh­ter, Lisa Walls and her hus­band Den­nis and grand­daugh­ter, Tay­lor Walls, all of Centreville. Betty was fondly known as Mom Mom Clark and Mama by many.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents and her hus­band of 53 years, she was pre­ceded in death by her sis­ter, Irene Beck; niece, Brenda Baker; neph­ews, John, David, Howard and Robert Beck, all of Rock Hall; and a spe­cial cousin, Vir­ginia Vansant Collins of Wilm­ing­ton.

A funeral ser­vice will be held on Mon­day, May 15, at 11 a.m. in the Centreville United Methodist Church, 608 Church Hill Road, Centreville, MD, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will fol­low in Ch­ester­field Ceme­tery, Centreville.

Memo­rial do­na­tions may be made to Com­pass Re­gional Hospice Cen­ter or Centreville United Methodist Women’s Schol­ar­ship Fund.
