The chan­nel at Kent Nar­rows will not be dredged in time to al­le­vi­ate sum­mer con­ges­tion, ac­cord­ing to rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the U.S. Arny Corps of En­gi­neers.

Post­ing pub­lic no­tices, test­ing and ob­tain­ing ap­proval for a spoil site would take a min­i­mum of 90 days, Corps of­fi­cials in­formed Rep. Wayne Gilchrest, R1st; Del. C. Ron­ald Franks, R-Queen Anne’s; Depart­ment of Nat­u­ral Re­sources of­fi­cials; wa­ter­men; ma­rina own­ers; and mem­bers of the Kent Nar­rows Devel­op­ment Foun­da­tion at Mears Point Ma­rina Tues­day.

There was a con­sen­sus that the fo­cus should be on the pro­posed chan­nel that will not only shorten the route to the Ch­ester River but which also forms a nat­u­ral chan­nel with the pre­vail­ing winds and will re­quire less main­te­nance dredg­ing. * * * If any­one won­ders why Carol Leyon was hon­ored
