Fam­ily Fun Day for chil­dren with dis­abil­i­ties May 21

GRA­SONVILLE — The se­cond an­nual Fam­ily Fun Day, hosted by mul­ti­ple lo­cal and state-wide non­prof­its and or­ga­ni­za­tions, will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Sun­day, May 21, at Tal­is­man Ther­a­peu­tic Rid­ing Cen­ter, lo­cated at 300 Tal­is­man Farm Cir­cle in Gra­sonville. This event is tai­lored for fam­i­lies with chil­dren and young peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties and spe­cial needs; how­ever, there will be ac­tiv­i­ties for the en­tire fam­ily to par­tic­i­pate in and broth­ers, sis­ters, par­ents, care­givers and ex­tended fam­ily are in­vited to at­tend. Fam­ily Fun Day will kick off at noon and will fea­ture a va­ri­ety of fam­ily-fun and sensory-friendly ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing: barn tours, Paso Fino horse soc­cer game, beach and sensory trail walks, a sensory-friendly pup­pet show, and a spring horse show fea­tur­ing the Tal­is­man Riders. Event par­tic­i­pants will also be able to sit on horse sad­dles, meet the horses at the farm, be “guest muck­ers,” meet per­son­nel from the Queen Anne’s County Sher­iff’s Of­fice, visit with four-legged friends from Ca­nine Com­pan­ions and more. In ad­di­tion, there will be a re­source fair for par­ents to meet or­ga­ni­za­tions that of­fer pro­grams and ser­vices for chil­dren with dis­abil­i­ties. Fam­i­lies who at­tend will en­joy free food and bev­er­ages, along with in­for­ma­tion and give­aways from the event’s donors, part­ners and spon­sors.
