GRA­SONVILLE — Peggy Louise (Smith) Wil­helm of Gra­sonville, Md., passed away on May 11, 2017, sur­rounded by fam­ily, af­ter a long bat­tle with can­cer. She was 58.

Peggy was born on July 31, 1958, to Rosie (An­drews) Smith and the late Har­vey Smith. She grad­u­ated from Queen Anne’s County High School, class of 1976. Peggy be­gan work­ing lo­cally as a wait­ress in area restau­rants, in ad­di­tion to clean­ing homes. Most re­cently, she worked as a re­tail clerk at the Queen­stown Out­lets.

On July 11, 1987, she mar­ried Eric Wil­helm, and they made their home in Gra­sonville, Md.

Peggy en­joyed col­lect­ing sea glass, at­tend­ing yard sales, crafts, tak­ing pic­tures, spend­ing time at the beach and, most of all, be­ing with her fam­ily and grand­chil­dren.

In ad­di­tion to her hus­band and mother, she is sur­vived by two chil­dren, Jason Low­ery, Cierra (Wil­helm) Cross and her hus­band War­ren; three sib­lings, Brenda Har­ris; Richard Smith; Jamie Smith; and two grand­chil­dren, War­ren Cross III and Ella Cross.

A visi­ta­tion was held on Mon­day, May 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fel­lows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home, Cen­tre­ville, Md. A fu­neral ser­vice was held at noon. Burial was pri­vate.
