CENTREVILLE — A fundraiser is planned Friday, June 2, for the family of a Kennard Elementary School student who lost his battle with cancer last week.

Eiann Connell, 10, had been cancer-free for four years before the leukemia came back. He was affectionately referred to as “Superman” for his strength and courage in his fight with cancer.

His teacher Brittney Borza, along with other staff members, has orchestrated a silent auction that will take place during the inaugural Centreville and Kennard Elementary Family Picnic, sponsored by the PTA. Staff members have made gift baskets and local business and community members have made generous donations.

They will also sell T-shirts. All proceeds will go to the Connell family to help with expenses.
