Kathleen Celeste Thomas Taylor
CHURCH HILL — Kathleen Celeste Thomas Taylor of Church Hill, MD, died at the University of MD Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on May 25, 2017. She was 86.
Born in Centreville on Feb. 14, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Mabel Pilkerton Thomas. She attended Centreville High School and then went to work at Burke’s Restaurant and Conner’s Drug Store in Centreville for a few years. She married Raymond Taylor in 1948, and the couple began their family.
She loved to crochet, making crafts, sewing, cooking and spending time with her family, especially during the holidays.
She is survived by her children: Charles Taylor of Church Hill, MD; Marvin “Popeye” Taylor of Denton, MD; Jeanne Scharch of Bowie; Grace West of Seaford, DE; Shirley Burnham of Hastings, FL; and a brother, Robert Thomas of Easton, MD; seven grandchildren: Melissa Ellsworth, Brenda Kroyikowski, Susan Warner, Thomas Scharch, Carey Calloway, Calvin Jones, Stephen Taylor; 18 great grandchildren: Brandon and Justyn Taylor, Tristan and Lane Scharch, Jasmine and Roger Warner Jr., Autumn, Colby and Evan Bone, Aubrie Calloway, Anthony Vasquez, Mathew Workman, Jonah Myers, Mercedes Nunamann, Savannah Jones, Miranda Jones, Noah Taylor, Delaney Taylor; and two great-great-grandchildren, Jaelynn Taylor and Zy’aira King
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Taylor; one son, Robert Taylor; and three sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 2, at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Centreville, MD, where friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Chesterfield Cemeter y.
