Kath­leen Ce­leste Thomas Tay­lor

CHURCH HILL — Kath­leen Ce­leste Thomas Tay­lor of Church Hill, MD, died at the Univer­sity of MD Shore Nurs­ing and Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­ter on May 25, 2017. She was 86.

Born in Cen­tre­ville on Feb. 14, 1931, she was the daugh­ter of the late Nor­man and Ma­bel Pilk­er­ton Thomas. She at­tended Cen­tre­ville High School and then went to work at Burke’s Restau­rant and Con­ner’s Drug Store in Cen­tre­ville for a few years. She mar­ried Ray­mond Tay­lor in 1948, and the cou­ple be­gan their fam­ily.

She loved to cro­chet, mak­ing crafts, sewing, cook­ing and spend­ing time with her fam­ily, es­pe­cially dur­ing the hol­i­days.

She is sur­vived by her chil­dren: Charles Tay­lor of Church Hill, MD; Marvin “Pop­eye” Tay­lor of Den­ton, MD; Jeanne Scharch of Bowie; Grace West of Seaford, DE; Shirley Burn­ham of Hast­ings, FL; and a brother, Robert Thomas of Eas­ton, MD; seven grand­chil­dren: Melissa Ellsworth, Brenda Kroyikowski, Su­san Warner, Thomas Scharch, Carey Cal­loway, Calvin Jones, Stephen Tay­lor; 18 great grand­chil­dren: Bran­don and Justyn Tay­lor, Tris­tan and Lane Scharch, Jas­mine and Roger Warner Jr., Au­tumn, Colby and Evan Bone, Aubrie Cal­loway, An­thony Vasquez, Mathew Work­man, Jonah My­ers, Mercedes Nu­na­mann, Sa­van­nah Jones, Mi­randa Jones, Noah Tay­lor, De­laney Tay­lor; and two great-great-grand­chil­dren, Jae­lynn Tay­lor and Zy’aira King

She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, Ray­mond Tay­lor; one son, Robert Tay­lor; and three sis­ters.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri­day, June 2, at the Fel­lows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home in Cen­tre­ville, MD, where friends and fam­ily may visit one hour prior to the ser­vice. Burial will fol­low at Ch­ester­field Ceme­ter y.
