Har­mony on the Bay se­lects new di­rec­tor

CEN­TRE­VILLE — Har­mony on the Bay re­cently an­nounced that Ronaleen “Roni” Gapetz has been named the new di­rec­tor of the fe­male a cap­pella cho­rus.

Gapetz also di­rects a male bar­ber­shop cho­rus in Easton, the Bay Coun­try Cho­rus.

Gapetz has over 20 years ex­pe­ri­ence as a di­rec­tor, hav­ing di­rected Ocean Bay Sweet Ade­lines in Sal­is­bury, The Sound of the At­lantic in Bethany Beach and Nau­ti­cal Sounds/Ocean View Chap­ter of Bar­ber­shop Har­mony So­ci­ety.

She taught mu­sic to stu­dents in fourth through eighth grade at St. Fran­cis de Sales School in Sal­is­bury and di­rected two mu­sic con­certs each year.

“De­vel­op­ing har­mo­nious chords that can be en­joyed by both singers and lis­ten­ers has al­ways been my plea­sure and I look for­ward to help­ing Har­mony On The Bay fur­ther-de­velop those skills,” Gapetz said in a news re­lease.

Gapetz holds a Bach­e­lor of Arts with a con­cen­tra­tion in mu­sic from Bethany Col­lege in Bethany, W.V. as well as a Masters of Ed­u­ca­tion from Sal­is­bury Univer­sity. In ad­di­tion, she has com­pleted the Sweet Ade­lines In­ter­na­tional di­rec­tor train­ing cour­ses and is a cer­ti­fied di­rec­tor.

Har­mony on the Bay holds weekly re­hearsals at the Amer­i­can Le­gion in Cen­tre­ville. Mem­bers wel­comes guests to Tues­day evening re­hearsals.
