LI­BRARY RE-OPEN­ING There will be a rib­bon cut­ting at 2 p.m. on Satur­day, June 24, as the Centreville Branch holds its grand re­open­ing. We will have amaz­ing cup­cakes for all, will do a build­ing bingo and hand out com­mem­o­ra­tive glasses un­til the sup­plies run out. Friends of the Queen Anne’s County Li­brary will spon­sor a kids craft and book sale dur­ing the af­ter­noon, all run­ning from 1 to 4 p.m.

••• BOOKS IN BARS We will be hold­ing a book dis­cus­sion on Peter Heller’s new novel, “The Pain­ter,” at Ram’s Head Shore House, just across the road from the Kent Is­land Li­brary on Tues­day, June 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. It will be a fun and so­cial time along with the book dis­cus­sion. Drinks and din­ner are ordered be­fore the con­ver­sa­tion be­gins. Call Kim at 410-758-0980 with any ques­tions.

NEEDED You must reg­is­ter for the July 19 DIY Work­shop on Chalk­boards at the Li­brary begin­ning at 6 p.m. Cre­ate a great piece to put in your house or dec­o­rate your pa­tio. Get a chance to be hands-on with tools and tell ev­ery­one you made it your­self. Let­ter­ing may be part of the class to cre­ate a beau­ti­ful last­ing phrase on your chalk­board. Reg­is­tra­tion closes one week prior to the work­shop.

••• AU­THOR EVENT HERE Au­thor Re­bekah Col­burn will be at the Li­brary on July 29 at 1 p.m. to talk about her se­ries of My Brother’s Flag books. She will dis­cuss her writ­ing process and read an ex­cerpt from her new­est Flag book. Books will be avail­able for pur­chase and au­thor sign­ing.
