CLOSED JULY 4 Both li­braries on Kent Is­land and in Cen­tre­ville will be closed all day Tuesday, July 4, for the Fourth of July hol­i­day. Both will open at 9 a.m. on July 5 for a full day.

••• SUM­MER READ­ING Check out the Sum­mer Read­ing dis­play in the front lobby of the Li­brary as you come in.

••• KIDS READ FREE Re­mem­ber, there are no late fees on chil­dren’s or young adult material checked out dur­ing July. This does not in­clude all DVDs and in­ter­li­brary loan items.

••• COM­PUTER WORK­SHOPS We will have two one-onone work­shops at the Li­brary where you can pick your time and topic. We will hold the work­shops on July 13 at 9 and 10 a.m.; and again on July 19 at 2, 3 and 4 p.m. You pick your topic you want: com­put­ers for begin­ners, Mi­crosoft pro­grams (Word, Ex­cel, Pub­lisher, etc.), Win­dows 8, Win­dows 10; in­ter­net, email, li­brary ser­vices, tablets and smart­phones.

••• DIY WORK­SHOP The DIY Work­shop at the Li­brary in July will be mak­ing chalk­boards on July 19 at 6 p.m. and reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired. The reg­is­tra­tion closes a week prior to the work­shop, and space is lim­ited. You will cre­ate a great piece to put in your house or dec­o­rate your pa­tio with. Get a chance to be hands on with tools and tell ev­ery­one you made it your­self. Let­ter­ing may be part of the class to cre­ate a beau­ti­ful last­ing phrase on your chalk­board.
