“We hit the ball the second game, but we got outhit the second game,” said Queen Anne’s-Kent coach Chris Fitzgerald. “They came and swung the bat well today. We made a lot of mistakes today on the base paths. That hurt us. I thought we had some great pitching from Tyler Loh today and we should have came away in a little better shape than we did. But we made some mistakes there at the end and couldn’t finish the deal.”
Walston dominated Game 1 with a good fastball and an occasional curve. Queen Anne’s-Kent got two runners to second base and one runner to third but couldn’t get anyone across the plate.
Darin Rosebrock doubled to open the home fifth but Walston fanned the next three batters. Marvel doubled with two outs in the sixth but Walston struck out the next batter.
