With two outs in the home fourth, Marvel and Skinner each walked and scored on a double by Rovenolt to make it 8-4.

After a scoreless fifth, Logan doubled, Noah Nelson and Marlett singled, and Horner hit a sacrifice fly as Somerset cut its deficit to 8-6 in the sixth. Evans doubled to right-center to open the seventh and Borden singled to left. They both scored on wild pitches, the first one by Queen Anne’sKent starter Tyler Loh and the second one by reliever Nathan Turner. Turner fanned the final two batters to leave a runner stranded at third.

Horner allowed three runs (two earned) on four walks, a hit-batter, and five hits in six innings on the mound.

Loh gave up eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings.

“We hit the ball the second game, but we got outhit the second game,” said Queen Anne’s-Kent coach Chris Fitzgerald. “They came and swung the bat well today. We made a lot of mistakes today on the base paths. That hurt us. I thought we had some great pitching from Tyler Loh today and we should have came away in a little better shape than we did. But we made some mistakes there at the end and couldn’t finish the deal.”

Walston dominated Game 1 with a good fastball and an occasional curve. Queen Anne’s-Kent got two runners to second base and one runner to third but couldn’t get anyone across the plate.

Darin Rosebrock doubled to open the home fifth but Walston fanned the next three batters. Marvel doubled with two outs in the sixth but Walston struck out the next batter.

Logan led Post 94 with two hits and three RBIs. He knocked in two runs with two outs in the third with a looping basehit to right off Queen Anne’s-Kent reliever Mar vel.

Rosebrock took the loss on the mound. Pitching the first two innings and opening the third, he allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks, with three wild pitches. Follow me on Twitter @csknauss / email me at cknauss@stardem.com
