County Col­lec­tor Car Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day joins na­tion­wide car cel­e­bra­tion

STEVENSVILLE — West­ern Tire and Auto, Kent Is­land Cruis­ers and Friendly’s Gulf are join­ing or­ga­niz­ers across the coun­try to cel­e­brate the eighth An­nual Col­lec­tor Car Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day by hold­ing the Queen Anne’s County Col­lec­tor Car Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day Cruise In and Block Party on Wed­nes­day, July 12. The event will take place at 1406 Main St., Stevensville, from 7 to 9 p.m.

As a sin­gu­lar trib­ute to the col­lec­tor car in­dus­try and mil­lions of hob­by­ists it sup­ports, the se­cond Wed­nes­day in July is rec­og­nized as Col­lec­tor Car Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day in Queen Anne’s County as a means to raise aware­ness of the vi­tal role au­to­mo­tive restora­tion and col­lec­tion plays in Amer­i­can so­ci­ety.

Doby Mid­dle­ton, owner of West­ern Tire and Auto, said they are ex­cited that busi­nesses and hob­by­ists through­out the coun­try are join­ing to­gether to cel­e­brate the pos­i­tive pres­ence that the au­to­mo­tive in­dus­try has in lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties. He said they are look­ing for­ward to car en­thu­si­asts and fam­i­lies to come out and share their in­ter­ests for au­to­mo­biles.

The event is one of hun­dreds of car events tak­ing place to cel­e­brate Col­lec­tor Car Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day. The Spe­cial­ity Equip­ment Mar­ket As­so­ci­a­tion (SEMA), it’s Au­to­mo­tive Restora­tion Mar­ket Or­ga­ni­za­tion (ARMO), its Hot Rod In­dus­try Al­liance (HRIA) and the SEMA Ac­tion Net­work (SAN), com­piled a list of events na­tion­wide and can be seen at­masan. com/page.asp?con­tent=cel­e­brate_­col­lec­tor­car_­day&g=SEMAGA.

SEMA, a trade as­so­ci­a­tion for busi­nesses in au­to­mo­tive spe­cialty equip­ment mar­ket, and ARMO, a council with SEMA that is ded­i­cated to pre­serv­ing and pro­mot­ing the au­to­mo­tive restora­tion in­dus­try, be­gan rec­og­niz­ing Col­lec­tor Car Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Day in 2010.
