County Collector Car Appreciation Day joins nationwide car celebration
STEVENSVILLE — Western Tire and Auto, Kent Island Cruisers and Friendly’s Gulf are joining organizers across the country to celebrate the eighth Annual Collector Car Appreciation Day by holding the Queen Anne’s County Collector Car Appreciation Day Cruise In and Block Party on Wednesday, July 12. The event will take place at 1406 Main St., Stevensville, from 7 to 9 p.m.
As a singular tribute to the collector car industry and millions of hobbyists it supports, the second Wednesday in July is recognized as Collector Car Appreciation Day in Queen Anne’s County as a means to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.
Doby Middleton, owner of Western Tire and Auto, said they are excited that businesses and hobbyists throughout the country are joining together to celebrate the positive presence that the automotive industry has in local communities. He said they are looking forward to car enthusiasts and families to come out and share their interests for automobiles.
The event is one of hundreds of car events taking place to celebrate Collector Car Appreciation Day. The Speciality Equipment Market Association (SEMA), it’s Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO), its Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) and the SEMA Action Network (SAN), compiled a list of events nationwide and can be seen at http://www.semasan. com/page.asp?content=celebrate_collectorcar_day&g=SEMAGA.
