Three appointed to Bay Bridge Airport Advisory Committee
CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners appointed three residents to the Bay Bridge Airport Advisory Committee Tuesday, June 27.
Six applicants submitted letters of interest for the three vacancies of James Barnette, John McCarthy and John Veltman.
The commission appointed John Friel, Jason Jarvi and John Veltman each to three-year terms that began July 1. The terms will end June 30, 2020.
The Bay Bridge Airport Committee was established by resolution on Nov. 5, 1990. Its purpose is to investigate, review, report and make recommendations on the use and future use of the Bay Bridge Airport and its facilities, to review periodically the operating procedures of the Airport in order to assure compatibility of such procedures with the welfare of the community and to uphold the Bay Bridge Airport Minimum Standards.
The committee is to encourage the use of the airport as an economic, recreational and educational center and promote good community relationships.
