Three ap­pointed to Bay Bridge Air­port Ad­vi­sory Com­mit­tee

CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Com­mis­sion­ers ap­pointed three res­i­dents to the Bay Bridge Air­port Ad­vi­sory Com­mit­tee Tues­day, June 27.

Six ap­pli­cants sub­mit­ted let­ters of in­ter­est for the three va­can­cies of James Bar­nette, John McCarthy and John Velt­man.

The com­mis­sion ap­pointed John Friel, Ja­son Jarvi and John Velt­man each to three-year terms that be­gan July 1. The terms will end June 30, 2020.

The Bay Bridge Air­port Com­mit­tee was es­tab­lished by res­o­lu­tion on Nov. 5, 1990. Its pur­pose is to in­ves­ti­gate, re­view, re­port and make rec­om­men­da­tions on the use and fu­ture use of the Bay Bridge Air­port and its fa­cil­i­ties, to re­view pe­ri­od­i­cally the op­er­at­ing pro­ce­dures of the Air­port in or­der to as­sure com­pat­i­bil­ity of such pro­ce­dures with the wel­fare of the com­mu­nity and to up­hold the Bay Bridge Air­port Min­i­mum Stan­dards.

The com­mit­tee is to en­cour­age the use of the air­port as an eco­nomic, recre­ational and ed­u­ca­tional cen­ter and pro­mote good com­mu­nity re­la­tion­ships.
