••• LEARN TO USE CANVA Registration is required to learn to use Canva, a free design program, to be held at the Centreville Branch on Aug. 3, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Do you need fresh, eye-catching marketing tools for your business? Don’t want to invest in an expensive and complicated design software? Then try Canva. Stop in the Library for an informative session that will walk you through the features of Canva’s free version. You may register at www.qaclibrar y.org.

••• MATINEE MOVIE The Centreville Branch will hold a free matinee movie in August and September, both at 2:30 p.m. The August movie on the 11th will be, “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword,” and on Sept. 8 we will be showing, “The Mummy.”

••• CHANGES ARE COMING

Both county libraries are joining other public libraries on the Eastern Shore to create a new Shore-wide catalog and there will be disruptions taking place. • Both libraries will be closed all day Aug. 8 and 9 for staff training. • No holds on items will be taken Aug. 1-17. There will be no access to the interlibrary loan system Aug. 1-23. • Starting Aug. 9 you will not be able to access your account online. • From Aug. 11 through Aug. 16 we will only be able to check-out items, and patrons will need their library card to check-out. There will be no check-ins or holds placed and we will not have access to patron records. • Both branches will open at 1 p.m. on “Go Live Day” on Aug. 17. HOW THESE CHANGES AFFECT YOU: • All library members must save their reading histories and lists by Aug. 9. After that date, all reading histories and lists will be deleted due to the transition. Library staff can assist you with this. • There will be no library material due between Aug. 8–21. Do not return materials during that time. It will be a great help to us and you will not be charged fines. • In the new system your default PIN will be the last four digits of your primary phone number. BENEFITS FROM THIS TRANSITION: • Easier and more efficient Shore-wide search for materials. • Easier access to 2.1 million items. • Faster delivery of reserved materials. Thanks for your patience during this time and if you have questions be sure to ask the Circulation Desk. Questions may be phoned in Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. Call 410745-0980 or 410-643-8161.
