ALEXAN­DRIA, VA. — David Lance Pumphrey of Alexan­dria, Va. died at his home on Mon­day, July 10, 2017. He was 49.

David L. Pumphrey was born July 14, 1967 in Bal­ti­more, the son of Earl Roger Pumphrey and the late Sylvia Diane “Smith” Pumphrey. David was a 1985 grad­u­ate of Queen Anne’s County High School. He con­tin­ued his ed­u­ca­tion at Frost­burg State Univer­sity for a year, then he did a se­mes­ter at Ch­e­sa­peake Com­mu­nity Col­lege be­fore at­tend­ing and then grad­u­at­ing from Ar­ca­dia Univer­sity in Penn­syl­va­nia with a BS de­gree and a Bach­e­lor of Fine Arts de­gree.

David lived all across the United States in­clud­ing Mary­land, Min­nesota, Bos­ton, Cal­i­for­nia, Vir­ginia and Washington, D.C. David worked sev­eral jobs through­out his life all in­volv­ing lit­i­ga­tion and re­search.

He en­joyed cook­ing, gam­ing, and spend­ing time on his own. His BART (Bal­ti­more trans­porta­tion sys­tem) and his Metro-Man (Washington, D.C. metro) en­tries on so­cial me­dia will be for­ever re­mem­bered and loved by many of his friends and fam­ily.

He is sur­vived by his fa­ther, Earl Roger Pumphrey of Ch­ester­town; one sis­ter, Sta­cie Tin­gen with fi­ancé Mark Jack­son of Ch­ester­town; two neph­ews, Christo­pher Tin­gen and Ethan Tin­gen, both of Ch­ester­town; his sig­nif­i­cant other, Steve Sprin­sky of New Jer­sey; and his dog, Boomer.

A memo­rial ser­vice will be held at 7 p.m. Fri­day, July 21, at Fel­lows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home, 130 Speer Road, Ch­ester­town, where rel­a­tives and friends may call one hour prior (6 to 7 p.m.).
