304 overpass nears completion
CENTREVILLE — State Highway Administration officials expect traffic to be using the MD 304 overpass at Ruthshburg Road in the next two weeks. According to Robert Rager, spokesperson for SHA, weather permitting traffic will shift onto the overpass so the last ramp to northbound 301 can be completed.
“Open” doesn’t mean done, said Rager, “Still a lot of little things to do — remove overhangs, install fence, groove deck — we just need to get traffic on the overpass so we can finish that last ramp to northbound 301, and there’s still some surface paving left (to be finished).”
The detour from 304 to northbound 301 will send traffic down to 213 to turn around, said Rager. SHA said it is not safe to use Rolling Bridge Road for this particular detour, so expect the Rolling Bridge Road median to be closed when the overpass opens. Work is still in progress around Rolling Bridge Road including clearing, grading, stormwater facilities and paving the new acceleration/deceleration lanes.
