Working Artists Forum lists Local Color winners
EASTON — Sandra Alanko’s painting “Down Rigging Night” took Best in Show honors at this year’s Local Color Art Show and Sale, run by the Working Artists Forum.
The event was held last weekend in the Crystal Ballroom of the Tidewater Inn as part of the weeklong Plein Air Easton festival.
Forty-two artists from the Delmarva Peninsula were juried into the show earlier in the year by Trey Finney, the second-place winner of Plein Air Easton in 2016.
The artists were Alanko, Carole Boggemann-Peirson. Jane Bollman, Katie Cassidy, Joan Cranor, Carol Cowie, Nancy Lee Davis, Donald Doheny, Donna M. Finley, Perry Foster, Rebecca Gaffney, Nancy B. Galvin, Matthew Ghrist, Doris Glovier, Pamela Heiber, Angela Herbert-Hodges, Jayne Hetherington, June Hock, Martha Holthausen, Patti Lucas Hopkins, Carla Huber, Laura Jenkins, Linda Kir van,Jane Knighton, Kathleen Kopec, Marianne Kost, Patricia Lang, Mary Ellen Mabe, Carol Meers, Karen Merkin, Kurt Plinke, Jim Rehak, Jack Richardson, Kathie Rogers, Ann Schaefer, Sheryl Southwick, Sarah Stolte, Nancy R. Thomas, Mary del Carmen Veiga, Barbara Harr Watson, Maureen Wheatley and Barbara Zuehlke.
Sara Linda Poly, Plein Air Easton’s grand-prize winner in 2016, judged the artwork Friday, July 21. The awards were given at noon.
In addition to Alanko’s Best in Show, Awards of Excellence went to Carol Boggemann Peirson for “Quiet Ending,” Sara Stolte for “Lock Tender” and Matthew Ghrist for “Salt Fisherman.”
Honorable mentions were awarded to Kurt Plunke for “Red Cow,” Sheryl Southwick for “Dock” and Patricia Lang for “Tea Time.” ----Online: www.workingartists forum.com
