Emer­gency Ser­vices adds com­mu­ni­ca­tions as­sis­tant

CEN­TRE­VILLE — James “Jim” Al­free ac­cepted the post of com­mu­ni­ca­tions as­sis­tant chief with Queen Anne’s County Emer­gency Ser vices, and he brings with him knowl­edge gained from years of pro­fes­sional EMS ser­vice plus a life­time of vol­un­teer­ing as a first re­spon­der.

A na­tive of Galena, Al­free, his mother, father and sis­ter are all mem­bers of the Galena Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment.

Al­free had a 29-year ca­reer with Ce­cil County Emer­gency Ser­vices be­fore ac­cept­ing the post of QA’s com­mu­ni­ca­tions as­sis­tant chief.

“We are very ex­cited about Jim join­ing our staff. His pro­fes­sional knowl­edge of emer­gency ser­vices and his per­sonal knowl­edge of this com­mu­nity are a great as­set to our depart­ment,” said Scott Haas, direc­tor of Queen Anne’s County Emer­gency Ser vices.

As the as­sis­tant chief of com­mu­ni­ca­tions, Al­free will be lo­cated at DES head­quar­ters on Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Drive. He will over­see and co­or­di­nate the 911 Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Cen­ter and be part of the DES Se­nior Man­age­ment Team.

Al­free said, “I am very ex­cited to start my sec­ond ca­reer with such a great agency, and I look for­ward to serv­ing the cit­i­zens of Queen Anne’s County.”
