* * * The Galilee Evan­gel­i­cal Lutheran Church is ded­i­cat­ing their newly com­pleted church build­ing in Har­bor View on Kent Is­land on Aug. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

Ser­vices have been held over the years in an empty store in the Kent Is­land Shop­ping Cen­ter while the group made in­ten­sive ef­forts to raise the nec­es­sary money to first buy their ground and then con­struct their build­ing. Funds were raised by the ef­forts of mem­bers of the con­gre­ga­tion.

* * * Storm dam­age costs are mount­ing as both the / state Roads Com­mis­sion and County Roads crews con­tinue to work and re­pair washouts from last week’s del­uge.

C.E. Turner Sr., SRC main­te­nance en­gi­neer, has made a rough es­ti­mate of $10,000 alone for la­bor ad equip­ment in the mam­moth cleanup and re­pair job.

He said they ex­pect to use 4,500 cu­bic yards of gravel and that dam­age to drainage struc­tures may top the $250 fig­ure.
