Sporting clays shoot aids breast center
QUEENSTOWN — The annual sporting clays tournament that supports the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health in Easton netted nearly $55,000. The money will be used for “equipment needs,” according to a news release.
The Point at Pintail in Queenstown hosted the event June 10.
There were 195 registered shooters for the third annual edition of the Sporting Clays Classic.
The high gun prize winners were: Cody Eshelman, men; Christine Corkell, women; Ryan Boyles and Jackson Eshelman, Juniors; and Team Caesar Guerini, team.
Prizes also were awarded to the top three place-finishers in Lewis classes. They are printed here.
Lewis Class One: Ray Carey, first; Dalton Gallagher, second; and Joe Carey, third.
Lewis Class Two: Brian Fitzgerald, first; Kevin Weems, second; and Dave Lovelady, third.
Lewis Class Three: Andy Cheezum, first; Robert Lataille, second; and Jamie Buckley, third.
Sponsorships from individuals and businesses contributed to the success of the event, which raised $54,500.

“The Clark Comprehensive Breast Center is very grateful for the sponsorships the community partners and individuals put forth to make this such a successful event,” Dr. Roberta Lilly, medical director of the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center, said in a prepared statement July 12.
“Equipment upgrades are important to offering the best patient care, and the funds raised through the Sporting Clays Classic is a big help to what we want to achieve,” she said.
F. Graham Lee, vice president for philanthropy for UM Shore Regional Health, thanked “all who came out and made the Sporting Clays Classic such a successful and fun event.”
The date for the 2018 already has been set: Saturday, June 9.
