Mary “Marty” Ben­ning­ton

CEN­TRE­VILLE — Mary “Marty” Ben­ning­ton of Cen­tre­ville, MD, died on Au­gust 15, 2017, at the Anne Arun­del Med­i­cal Cen­ter. She was 71.

Born in Eas­ton on May 29, 1946, she was the daugh­ter of the late Cas­mir Joseph Mar­tyna and Doris He­len Satchell. Marty grew up in Eas­ton and at­tended Eas­ton High School. She held var­ied jobs over the years, in­clud­ing as a teach­ing as­sis­tant at Gra­sonville El­e­men­tar y, man­ag­ing the Bay Bridge Mo­tel and Waf­fle House, and help­ing with her daugh­ter and son-in-law’s seafood busi­ness, but her true life’s work was as a homemaker, car­ing for her fam­ily. Marty en­joyed camp­ing and trav­el­ing, and es­pe­cially spend­ing time with her chil­dren and grand­chil­dren.

She is sur­vived by her brother Joseph Mar­tyna (Jill) of South Dakota; chil­dren: Glen Lynch (Theresa) of Eas­ton, Karen Lynch O’Neal (Mark) of Cen­tre­ville, and Jan­ice En­field (Ken) and Lisa Pal­matary (Jimmy), both of Eas­ton; grand­chil­dren: Emily Peet, El­iz­a­beth Tay­lor and Amanda Pal­matary; and sev­eral beloved great-grand­chil- dren, neph­ews and great nieces and neph­ews. She was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band of 30 years, Larry Ben­ning­ton; brother, Richard Mar­tyna; grand­son, James Clark Pal­matary; and great-grand­son, Ed­ward Haf­fer­man.

A fu­neral ser­vice was held at 11 a.m. on Mon­day, Aug. 21, at the Fel­lows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home, P.A. in Cen­tre­ville, where friends and fam­ily vis­ited Sun­day from 4-6 p.m. Burial fol­lowed the ser­vice in Ch­ester­field Ceme­tery, Cen­tre­ville.

She had two chil­dren: Bar­bara “Peggy” Starkey of Cen­tre­ville and Ed­die “Don­nie” Bine­brink of Star Tan­nery, Va. Mar­garet was pre-de­ceased by two broth­ers, Olin Bur­ris and Gor­don Bur­ris, and two sis­ters, Flora Warfield and Jean Bur­ris, all of Aberdeen; a grand­child, Kevin Starkey; and a great­great-grand­child, Chase Davis. She is sur­vived by her grand­chil­dren, Terry Bine­brink and Mark Bine­brink; seven great-grand­chil­dren, Adam Bine­brink, Natalie Davis, Pey­ton Bine­brink, Ni­cholas Bine­brink, Rick Starkey, Andy Starkey and Scott Starkey; and six great­great-grand­chil­dren, Cole Starkey, Le­jla Starkey, Kal Starkey, Wy­att Starkey, Car­son Davis and Levi Davis.

A fu­neral ser­vice was held Wed­nes­day, Aug. 23, at the Fel­lows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home P.A. in Cen­tre­ville. Burial fol­lowed at Wood­lawn Memo­rial Park in Eas­ton.
