SUDLERSVILLE — Josephine (Phennie) Timms, 82, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017 at her home in Sudlersville.
She was born April 28, 1935 in Barclay, to Charles C. Merchant and Jessie L. Wilson Merchant. She moved to Centreville and attended school there until the seventh grade. As a child, she enjoyed spending time at her grandparent’s farm in Pondtown. She was married to Louis C. Timms from 1951 to 1965. They had five children, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
In 1966, she met Frank B. Morris and they were together until his death in 2007. She enjoyed going to the Delaware State Fair every year with her children and grandchildren. Josephine loved to be surrounded by her family and friends and really enjoyed hosting and going to parties.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles “Sonny” Timms; and three sisters, Christine Timms, Doris Yeatman and Bonnie Lou Golt. She is survived by her four children, Judith A. Lord of Felton, Del., L. Donald Timms (Joyce) of Chestertown, Debora J. Leager (Robert) of Sudlersville and Richard W. Timms of Sudlersville; 10 grandchildren, Teresa, Kathryn, Frankie, Allan, Amy, Robbie, Wayne, Kimberly, Jason and Stephanie; 19 great-grandchildren; and the family dog “Bo.”
A visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Fellows Family Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St., Millington. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will follow the service in Crumpton Cemetery in Crumpton.
