QACHS plans 50th anniversary open house
CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County High School Alumni Association and the Queen Anne’s County High School PTSA are jointly sponsoring an open house to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Queen Anne’s County High School. This event will be held at the high school on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. Following the open house, the QACHS Alumni Association will host an informal gathering at the American Legion in Centreville for food, drink, and conversation.
The open house will offer tours of the school, picture displays of the school’s histor y, and a continuous video presentation of shared memories from former students and administrators. The Alumni Association invites the public to join members as they take a walk down memory lane and celebrate this historic milestone in our county. The opening of the Queen Anne’s County Comprehensive High School was significant in several ways. It was the forging of four high schools into one, the first year of integration in the county, and a high school combining academic focus as well as vocational focus that was quite unique and progressive for its time.
This will be the culminating event of a busy Homecoming weekend. Wear green and gold to celebrate 50 years of “The Pride of the Eastern Shore.”
