Two appointed to Sustainable Communities Council
CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners voted 4-1 to appoint James Malaro and Joseph Tvelia to the Sustainable Communities Council Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Commissioner Mark Anderson opposed, saying he wanted to re-advertise the openings because of recent changes to the council.
Malaro and Tvelia will both serve threeyear terms beginning immediately and ending on Aug. 21, 2020.
Other members of the board include: James Durham III, Alex Likowski, James Parker and Thomas Walsh.
The Sustainable Communities Council was created by the commissioners in December 2008 with the passage of Resolution 08-22, Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target Resolution. The Sustainable Communities Council is responsible for producing a Climate Action Plan and implementing the programs and projects detailed in the plan to the greatest extent achievable within available funding and resource allocation.
One vacancy remains on the council.
