Two ap­pointed to Sus­tain­able Com­mu­ni­ties Coun­cil

CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Com­mis­sion­ers voted 4-1 to ap­point James Malaro and Joseph Tvelia to the Sus­tain­able Com­mu­ni­ties Coun­cil Tues­day, Sept. 26.

Com­mis­sioner Mark An­der­son op­posed, say­ing he wanted to re-ad­ver­tise the open­ings be­cause of re­cent changes to the coun­cil.

Malaro and Tvelia will both serve three­year terms be­gin­ning im­me­di­ately and end­ing on Aug. 21, 2020.

Other mem­bers of the board in­clude: James Durham III, Alex Likowski, James Parker and Thomas Walsh.

The Sus­tain­able Com­mu­ni­ties Coun­cil was cre­ated by the com­mis­sion­ers in De­cem­ber 2008 with the pas­sage of Res­o­lu­tion 08-22, Green­house Gas Re­duc­tion Tar­get Res­o­lu­tion. The Sus­tain­able Com­mu­ni­ties Coun­cil is re­spon­si­ble for pro­duc­ing a Cli­mate Ac­tion Plan and im­ple­ment­ing the pro­grams and projects de­tailed in the plan to the great­est ex­tent achiev­able within avail­able fund­ing and re­source al­lo­ca­tion.

One va­cancy re­mains on the coun­cil.
