Grasonville VFD teaches students fire safety
GRASONVILLE — The Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department came out to Grasonville Elementary School on Monday, Oct. 16, to discuss fire safety and the duties of firefighters.
Students got an up close view of the department’s fire trucks, equipment and gear. They also taught the students how to “stop, drop and roll” if their clothes were ever on fire.
Volunteer firefighters participating included Chris Martel, Troy Tilghman, Wayne Bossert, Matt Forrest, Matt Coursey, Chris Bacorn and Steve McCombs.
The fire department comes out to the elementary school every year, and students look forward to meeting their local heroes and learning about what it takes to be a firefighter.
