Feed-a-Fam­ily seeks for names, do­na­tions

STEVENSVILLE — The community Feeda-Fam­ily Thanks­giv­ing Food Pro­gram, op­er­at­ing in Ch­ester, Gra­sonville, Queen­stown, Stevensville and parts of Centreville, has been pro­vid­ing Thanks­giv­ing Food Boxes and hot meals to Queen Anne’s County res­i­dents and fam­i­lies for the past 12 years.

Names are now be­ing ac­cepted for those who wish to re­ceive a food box this Thanks­giv­ing. The dead­line to sub­mit your name is Nov. 10. Bas­kets will be de­liv­ered be­fore 2 p.m. Satur­day, Nov. 18. To reg­is­ter for the pro­gram, call 410827-7588 or 301-404-2288.

Any­one wish­ing to help with this year’s pro­gram is asked to con­tact Bob­bie Bell at 410-829-9834 or bell­bloom­coach@ya­hoo.com. There are sev­eral ways to par­tic­i­pate with the pro­gram: by do­nat­ing time, a frozen turkey or ham, non­per­ish­able food items or gro­cery gift cards; or vol­un­teer­ing on the Feed-a-Fam­ily work or de­liver y team.

Gro­cery gift cards and cash do­na­tions can be mailed to Christ Church, 830 Ro­man­coke Road, Stevensville, MD 21666. Please note the do­na­tion is for Community Thanks­giv­ing.

Feed-a-Fam­ily is not af­fil­i­ated with any county or state agency and does not re­ceive grant money. The community pro­gram is spon­sored by lo­cal churches and sup­ported through the do­na­tions of lo­cal community mem­bers. Sev­eral lo­cal schools also host food drives, which the or­ga­ni­za­tion passes on to lo­cal food banks.

Feed-a-Fam­ily de­liv­ers food and tur­keys the Satur­day be­fore Thanks­giv­ing. Last year, nearly 800 fam­i­lies ben­e­fited from the pro­gram be­tween Thanks­giv­ing and Christ­mas.
