Kent Is­land Gar­den Club hosts meet­ing of Dis­trict 1 clubs

GRA­SONVILLE — The Kent Is­land Gar­den Club hosted the semi-an­nual meet­ing of the 11 Eastern Shore gar­den clubs which com­prise Dis­trict I of the Fed­er­ated Gar­den Clubs of Mary­land on Oct. 3 at the Prospect Bay Coun­try Club. In­di­vid­ual club re­ports were given to share in­for­ma­tion about pro­grams and spe­cial ac­tiv­i­ties. Awards were pre­sented to clubs for their spe­cial projects. The Kent Is­land Gar­den Club re­ceived an award for the Dis­trict I Flower Show en­ti­tled “A Blast From the Past,” which the club or­ga­nized and hosted.

The pro­gram fea­tured Aimee Loebs-davis, founder of Tast­ings and Con­sult­ing LLC, who spoke about the en­vi­ron­men­tally sus­tain­able vine­yards owned by Fran­cis Ford Cop­pola in Cal­i­for­nia. Three wines from the vine­yards were served with lunch. Chardon­nay was served with the salad, Pinot Gri­gio was served with the main course, and a Rose’ came with the dessert.

Loebs-davis dis­cussed the en­vi­ron­men­tally friendly meth­ods used to pro­duce th­ese wines at Cop­pola’s Vine­yards. Wines from the Fran­cis Ford Cop­pola Vine­yards are avail­able lo­cally.
