The Show­time net­work se­ries, about a strug­gling South­west Side fam­ily, is mostly shot in Los An­ge­les, but some scenes are typ­i­cally filmed here. The show’s eighth sea­son was of­fi­cially green­lit in De­cem­ber, with pro­duc­tion ex­pected to be­gin in May. Wil­liam H. Macy and Emmy Ros­sum star.


The half-hour com­edy se­ries about a re­cent med­i­cal school grad­u­ate who tries to be­come a ther­a­pist by see­ing pa­tients in his par­ents’ garage is set to pre­miere March 16 on NBC’s stream­ing com­edy ser­vice Seeso. The se­ries, from Sec­ond City alum­nus Tim Baltz and “The Daily Show” alum­nus Ted Trem­per, filmed in the fall on the North­west Side.

“Sig­na­ture Move”

The in­die, by Chicago film­maker Jen­nifer Reeder, is about a Pak­istani Mus­lim les­bian liv­ing in Chicago and car­ing for her TVob­sessed mother. The movie filmed in the city over the sum­mer with an ex­pected 2017 re­lease.

“Steve Har­vey”

Har­vey is slated to end pro­duc­tion of his day­time talk show at the WMAQ-Ch. 5 stu­dios in May and start a new show in Los An­ge­les in Septem­ber.
