Pedes­trian struck by car in S. Rich­mond cross­walk

RICH­MOND — Rich­mond po­lice are ask­ing any­one who may have wit­nessed a ve­hi­cle strik­ing a per­son on For­est

Hill Av­enue on Thurs­day evening to come for­ward with in­for­ma­tion.

The col­li­sion oc­curred around 6:10 p.m. in the 7400 block of For­est Hill Av­enue where it in­ter­sects with Sheila Lane, near the en­trance to Lowe’s and Wal­mart. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, a pedes­trian was cross­ing in a cross­walk when a 2006 Chevro­let Impala trav­el­ing west­bound on For­est Hill Av­enue struck the pedes­trian.

The pedes­trian was trans­ported to a lo­cal hos­pi­tal with in­juries that were con­sid­ered life-threat­en­ing, po­lice said.

The ve­hi­cle, and driver, re­mained on the scene, po­lice said, but any­one who wit­nessed the ac­ci­dent is asked to con­tact Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Di­vi­sion In­ves­ti­ga­tor J. Peter­son at (804) 646-1665 or call Crime Stop­pers at (804) 780-1000.
