Mo­bile quar­ter­backs have given Bud Fos­ter’s unit fits the past few sea­sons and this year, Clem­son — with a new starter in Kelly Bryant — has been call­ing more and more de­signed runs. Tech has an ex­pe­ri­enced and ath­letic de­fense, par­tic­u­larly with its lineback­ers, who will have to keep Bryant from mak­ing big plays and do a solid job of tack­ling him in open space.

Clem­son’s de­fen­sive line may be the best in the na­tion and Vir­ginia Tech fig­ures to have its hand full. The Tigers’ front four of Clelin Fer­rell, Chris­tian Wilkins, Dex­ter Lawrence and Austin Bryant have been dom­i­nant.
