Girl hurt in fall off carnival ride
A girl was taken to the hospital with nonlife- threatening injuries Friday after she fell from a Ferris wheel at a carnival on Midlothian Turnpike, according to the Richmond Fire Department.
Firefighters received a call for a person down at 9: 33 p. m. and arrived to find a young girl, approximately 10 years old, who had fallen from the Ferris wheel, said Battalion Chief Bailey Martin with the city’s fire department.
The girl had fallen about 10 feet, Martin said. The carnival is being held at 6807 Midlothian Turnpike in the parking lot of the old Kmart near the Chippenham Parkway, he said.
The ride was shut down, and emergency workers were able to get everyone else off the ride safely, Martin said.
A Richmond city inspector was called to investigate the ride and to determine what caused the girl to fall, he said. firstname.lastname@example.org
