EL­IZ­A­BETH CITY, N.C.— Cordel­ral Cook ran for three touch­downs, passed for three touch­downs, and Vir­ginia State con­tin­ued its un­de­feated start with a road vic­tory against El­iz­a­beth City State ( 3- 3, 1- 2 CIAA).

Tren­ton Can­non rushed for 101 yards and started the scor­ing in the first quar­ter with a 3- yard run on the Tro­jans’ first pos­ses­sion of the game.

Cook con­nected with Zachary Parker on an 80yard touch­down for his first touch­down and fol­lowed up with rush­ing scores of 1, 32 and 9 yards to give Vir­ginia State ( 5- 0, 3- 0) a 35- 0 lead at half­time.

Adding pass­ing touch­downs in the sec­ond half to Can­non and Parker, Cook fin­ished with 269 yards pass­ing and 58 yards rush­ing.

Vir­gini­aUnion 45, Lin­coln 23: Led by Dar­ius Tay­lor’s two touch­downs, the vis­it­ing Pan­thers ( 4- 2, 3- 0 CIAA) used a 28- point sec­ond quar­ter to open up a lead on the Lions ( 0- 6, 0- 3) and cruise to their third straight win.

Af­ter the Union de­fense sur­ren­dered the first score of the game in the sec­ond quar­ter, Tay­lor re­sponded with a 22- yard touch­down pass to La­va­tiae Tay­lor to start a big sec­ond quar­ter for the Pan­thers.

Af­ter Lin­coln re­sponded with a 53- yard touch­down run from Car­los Croslin, Tay­lor found Chaz­ton McKen­zie on a 38- yard pass to tie the game at 1414, and Rod­ney McKay punched the ball in from a yard out to break the dead­lock and give Union a lead it didn’t re­lin­quish.

U. Va.- Wise 51, Ur­bana

41: Jarome John­son passed for three touch­downs, and a com­mit­tee of run­ning backs rushed for 206 yards as the Cava­liers ( 4- 2, 4- 2 Moun­tain East) downed the Blue Knights ( 3- 3, 2- 3) in Wise.
