‘We back Pat’ is back

J.R. Tucker’s fifth an­nual “We Back Pat” event is sched­uled for Jan. 20, dur­ing the boy and girls bas­ket­ball games start­ing at 6 p.m.

“We Back Pat” is an event ded­i­cated to rais­ing money to fight Alzheimer’s dis­ease.

The event first stated when J.R. Tucker grad

heard about the “We Back Pat” events through the Pat Sum­mit Foun­da­tion. At the time, her grand­fa­ther also was bat­tling the de­bil­i­tat­ing dis­ease. As an avid bas­ket­ball player, she took the ini­tia­tive to or­ga­nize the first event. Beran’s brother, Rob­bie

a se­nior on the girls team, have taken the in­tu­itive to keep the event go­ing.

The Tucker girls and boys teams have raised Jazmine John­son Dai­jah Jef­fer­son from an in­jury.

Midlothian will get things go­ing Satur­day against Land­stown. The Ea­gles have held all but one op­po­nent to fewer than 40 points, but the Tro­jans play in one of the tough­est dis­tricts. St. Cather­ine’s will take on Lake Tay­lor. The Ti­tans will look to use an up-tempo press against the Saints, who are led by VCU signee Syd­nei Archie.
