Brownto sell deal­er­ships in Char­lottesville area

The BrownAu­to­mo­tive Group will be sell­ing its five Char­lottesville-area deal­er­ship lo­ca­tions.

Mem­phis-based Uman­sky Auto Group will take over the deal­er­ships lo­cated in Char­lottesville, while the lo­cal op­er­a­tor Kenny Brown will re­main in charge of the Brown Col­li­sion Cen­ter on U.S. 29.

The Char­lottesville op­er­a­tions were es­tab­lished in 1981 with two fran­chises and 24 em­ploy­ees. The lo­cal group now em­ploys more than 350 peo­ple across eight fran­chises.

The group ex­pected to change hands early next week, with no an­tic­i­pated ef­fect on em­ploy­ees.

Fair­fax-based Brown Au­to­mo­tive Group owns two deal­er­ships in the Rich­mond area — Brown’s Rich­mond Volk­swa­gen and Brown’s Rich­mond Jaguar, both on Mid­loth­ian Turn­pike in Ch­ester­field County.
