51, passed away on Septem­ber 8, 2017. Gail was born on Novem­ber 24, 1965, in New York, where she was adopted by Robert and Ju­dith Arthofer. She grad­u­ated from West­lake High School in 1983 and Michi­gan State Univer­sity in 1988. Gail was a mem­ber of Delta Delta Delta soror­ity. She re­ceived a de­gree in early child­hood and K-12 ed­u­ca­tion. Gail spent 28 years work­ing in Henrico County Schools teach­ing chil­dren from kinder­garten to sec­ond grade. She was pas­sion­ate about her stu­dents and her job, which was demon­strated through her will­ing­ness to of­fer help to any­one in need. She was an avid sports fan and loved watch­ing NASCAR, cheer­ing for the Cleve­land Browns, the Michi­gan State Spar­tans, and at­tend­ing her son’s base­ball games. She was also a pas­sion­ate an­i­mal lover and spent many years vol­un­teer­ing with the Henrico Hu­mane So­ci­ety. Gail is sur­vived by Jeremy Gar­ri­son ( son); her par­ents of Oak Ridge, N.C.; and her two sib­lings, James Arthofer of Way­nes­burg Ohio and El­iz­a­beth Haines ( Scott) of Fern­dale, Michi­gan; as well as a niece and many aunts, un­cles and cousins. A Cel­e­bra­tion of Life ser­vice will be held at 3 p. m. on Satur­day, Septem­ber 16, 2017, at Hatcher Memo­rial Bap­tist Church, 2300 Dum­bar­ton Rd., Henrico, Va. View­ing and visi­ta­tion will be held at the same lo­ca­tion from 1: 30 to 2: 45 p. m., prior to the ser­vice. In lieu of flow­ers, the fam­ily sug­gests memo­rial con­tri­bu­tions to a GoFundMe ac­count with de­tails lo­cated on her son’s as well as her own Face­book page, which will raise money to sup­port the Dum­bar­ton El­e­men­tary School PTA and the Henrico Hu­mane So­ci­ety.
